This seemed like a good next interview to do. My Grandfather is turning 89 on Cinco de Mayo of 2019. He has lost a spouse to ALS where he was the primary caregiver. He is currently providing care for his current spouse who has Alzheimer's. He shares some of the toll that providing that care for one he loves in the home.
Since this episode, I am actively helping him get in home care. John also decided he needed his hip replaced so I am working with my Aunts to see that he gets help during that operation and rehabilitation. Grandad wants to stay in his home and continue to care for his wife. His daughters and his wife's daughters feel she should go in a home. It's not easy to convince someone to do anything against their will. I will likely do a follow up as we continue to work with him. I will say I love that man and he is the epitome of compassion and love.
